About the JFJO

The JFJO represents a core group of the many Jazz artists with whom composer/trombonist Jeff Fairbanks has collaborated in his first three years in New York. After finishing an M.M. in 2005, Jeff relocated from Tampa, Florida and accepted an invitation to join the BMI Jazz Composer Workshop led by Jim McNeely and Michael Abene. Through the workshop and through freelance performing, he has amassed a large network of musicians from which to pull. During this time he also grew as a composer and enriched his portfolio with a number of new works. And so, after years of preparation, the time came to start making calls... NYC-based Jeff Fairbanks Jazz Orchestra performs the original compositions and arrangements of its leader. The band also appears in Gospel concert settings with a repertoire of Christian songs Fairbanks arranged for the band, from traditional to pieces he composed himself.
