Can I see reviews from other clients?

Yes.  Fairbanks Music is a member of the online business review company RatePoint.com, which independently collects and verifies reviews written by its members' clients.  There is a link to this in the "Audio Services" page, or you may view our RatePoint profile directly here.  While we have been in business for years, we still have relatively few RatePoint reviews as of yet due to the fact that we recently became a RatePoint member.

How long does a job take?

This depends on the job requested.  Generally smaller jobs such as transposing and transcribing take 1-2 days, while composing and arranging can vary more depending on the scale of the project, from days to weeks, or months for a large scale commissioned work.

How much do your services cost?

Each job is different, so prospective clients should contact us for a free, non-binding quote.  For some types of work, however, you can expect the quote to be based upon a 'base rate', which may be increased in some situations.  Such work includes: transposing ($0.35 x # of measures x # of staves); transcribing ($30-35 x # of minutes of source audio track).  Composing, arranging, orchestrating, and other services are negotiated based on each individual situation.  Generally, 'bulk' orders of multiple songs will help reduce the cost.  Also, due to the amount of setup time required for any new job, a there is a minimum price of $50 per song.

Can I get a free estimate?

Yes.  Contact us with as much information as you can about your project, and you will be provided with an exact quote at no obligation to follow through.

Is your quote the final price?

In nearly every case, yes.  In the unlikely event that a price would need to be adjusted during a job, it will be brought to the client's attention and renegotiated.

Can I see some of the finished product before I pay?

What should I provide for a job to be done?

If asked to send an audio file, you may either email an mp3 file to us (faster), or if you prefer you may send a CD of the music by snail mail to the address we will provide.  In rare cases where the file is too large to email you have the option of sending to us it via YouSendIt.com, a free, easy file transfer website for larger files.  Also, if any lyrics are to be included on the resulting score, please email a copy of them as well.

If asked to send sheet music, you may scan and email the music to us.  Currently we do not have a fax number.

What will I receive for my payment?

Scores/sheet music products will be emailed to the client as PDF files which may be viewed and printed.  This allows the client to receive their products as quickly as possible.  Upon special request we may be able to snail mail a client paper copies as an alternative.

Audio products will be sent as either mp3, wav, or midi files.  Usually these will be emailed to the client directly or via YouSendIt.com.  This also allows the client to receive their products as quickly as possible.  Upon special request or if the files are too large, they may be sent via snail mail.
